Literature. Marsh, Honoria D. - Shades from Jane Austen. 1975, limited edition 292/300, signed. Full leather, in slipcase. Spine faded. Provenance: Publisher crossed out, and initialled by the author indicating a personal copy. Inscription on verso of half-title 'this copy belongs to K. Anne Oliver Bellasis whose family bought Manydown from the Bigg-Withens'. Jane Austen was a frequent visitor to the property at Manydown, and received her only marriage proposal there in 1802 from Harris Bigg-Withens. The property was pulled down in 1965, it influenced many of Austen's works. (1)
