The recent boom in the housing market has led to a number of “second homes” being sold recently in the area and with house clearances and moves continuing it means that often we now see nice quality modern pieces of furniture and electricals with very little use.

The February 28th auction saw a solid golden oak dining table and set of eight matching ladderback chairs, having leatherette seats, sell for £580 and a similar oak dresser, having open shelves flanked by displays over three drawers to top section selling for £430.

In the same sale a rare vintage Garrard Radio Gramophone Record player Model 1046G no. 3164 sold to an overseas buyer for £1040.

Traditional antiques continue to be sought after during lockdown with a late Victorian Carolean style solid oak carver chair of impressive proportions having Black Forest style carved bear head handles making £360, A late Victorian mahogany desk in the Aesthetic style, later skiver leather top sold for £310 despite few stains and is sun bleached but is a nice quality piece and was mounted on later castors which certainly made it easier to move. Selling for the same price was an impressive period dark stained press or cloak cupboard having extensive carved detailing under drawers with wrought handles, with a later embellished date 1706.

Currently items are only being taken for sale from house clearances and moves, however we are still advising on smaller consignments and individual pieces via email and our social media channels so please do get in touch in readiness for us hopefully opening up more over the coming weeks and months.
