Thursday, 17th of November 2016: Thanks to everyone who took part in our specialist auction of Toys, Models & Railwayana on Monday 14th November, auctioneer David Hunter is pleased to report that we had a 90% clearance, with the highest lot price being Â£850 (for lot 607: A refurbished pine booking office counter, believed to be from Green Ayre station, Lanacaster).
- Exceptionally rare 1920s Rolls Royce Christmas gifts expected to make thousands at auction
Monday, 7th of November 2016: TWO very rare Christmas presents given by Rolls Royce to a valued business contact in the 1920s are expected to make thousands of pounds at auction later this month (Mon 28 November)
Known as the sterling silver âObjects de Bureauâ desk set, and made up of 11 items produced between 1926 and 1937, experts believe only seven complete sets exist. The company didnât commission an item in 1931.
A silver ashtray and a cigarette box, given to John Harold Kaye in 1926 and 1928 (respectively) and engraved with his initials, are now up for sale with 1818 Auctioneers on behalf of a grandson.
- RECORD BY CARLISLE BAND MAKES Â£650 AT AUCTION
Thursday, 20th of October 2016: A RARE 1976 record by the Carlisle band 'England', set up by local musician Olly Alcock, has made Â£650 at auction.
Discovered at a valuation day held by 1818 Auctioneers who sold it, the vendor, who wishes to remain anonymous, originally paid Â£2 for it.
- Liverpool Dock History Up For Auction
Thursday, 29th of September 2016: MAPS, plans and specifications for Liverpoolâs docks, dating from the mid to late 1800s and providing a rich insight into their history and growth, are up for auction on Monday 3 October.
The original, hand-tinted documents, many in very good condition and some on cloth, date from a period when the docks became a gateway for mass emigration. Between 1830 and 1930, nine million people sailed from Liverpool, mostly bound for North America, Australia and New Zealand, to seek a better life in the new world. The collection provides a rich insight into the history and growth of the world famous Liverpool Docks in the mid to late 1800s.

Thursday, 29th of September 2016: A LETTER from Beatrix Heelis (Potter) to Miss Roberts of H Roberts Booksellers of Kendal explaining her reasons for not publishing âThe Fairy Caravanâ in the UK is up for auction on Monday 3 October.
- Private collector's collection of the world's rarest vinyl makes Â£25,000 plus at auction (19 September)
Tuesday, 27th of September 2016: A private collectorâs collection of a least 750 vinyls has made over Â£25,000 at 1818 Auctioneers on the Lancashire, Cumbria border.
Highlights include â a collection of Nick Drake LPâs, including âBryter Laterâ, and ephemera went for Â£650; the Beatles âPaper Back Writerâ Demo Copy which sold for Â£550; and 11 classical albums on Columbia, Decca and EMI Labels, made Â£450 and; Rolling Stones âLet it Bleedâ which realised Â£340.
The sale, on Monday 19 September, attracted bids from record collectors and music fans from around the UK as well as from those local to the saleroom.
